The Layan Library
About
What is the Layan Library?
The literal meaning of Layan is softness, or gentleness.
In classical Arabic, the root of Layan also gives a word for a kind of palm tree, one that bends and sways rather than breaks.
Many first-gen students have to figure out how to navigate many aspects of college because they do not have a support system like many continuing-gen students (students who have parents who have done their bachelor's degree in the US). This is a resource created to remind first-gen students to be gentle with themselves through this transition and that there are many resources available to help them.
